Some late night College Football thoughts

Can you believe it's already Week 3 in the College Football season? I sure can't. The summer weeks dragged like I was watching "The Sound of Music" 50 times in a row. But now that the season is here it's going too fast and I don't like it. But with that said, I have some insomniac thoughts that I want to get off my chest about the season thus far.

USC is still #1. Face it.

Much talk has been about either moving up LSU or Oklahoma into the #1 spot after their severe beat downs they gave to two talented opponents. But quite frankly, at the end of the day USC is still king in College Football until they are knocked off the top. Nebraska is expecting to get revenge on USC after last year's loss the Huskers suffered in the Coliseum (10-28) in front of 25,000 Husker fans that came away disappointed after the long trek to La La Land.

When I look at USC's roster it's just oozing with NFL-talent. The Trojans lost Running Back Chauncey Washington in Fall Camp but the RB stable is in good hands with stud Freshman Joe McKnight who is already showing glimpses of the Trojan superstar, Reggie Bush. Watch this run McKnight had in Week 1 against the Vandals.

McKnight is gonna be awesome along with the entire Trojan squad this season. I don't see anyone competing with this group, including Nebraska on Saturday Night Football this week. Trojans will be in the BCS Title Game, guaranteed.

Notre Dame should never be "Rebuilding"

Are the Leprechauns regretting their decision to give Charlie Weis that huge contract extension after the 2005 season? I would think so. I just really don't understand how a school like Notre Dame can be in the "rebuilding" stages. When most casual sports fans think of College Football they will mention Notre Dame somewhere in their rant. Notre Dame has all the tradition, money, exposure and their Independent! They don't have to share.

It's just weird to me how they are at this stage right now. I thought Weis was this offensive genius? Were starting to realize the guy is a overrated Jabba the Hut who is fooling people into thinking he is the real deal. Notre Dame will never win a National Championship in my lifetime unless you ask Lou Holtz who still thinks Notre Dame can win nine or ten games this year. Note to Lou get off of ESPN already! We don't like you! Michigan gets their first win this season over the Irish.

Randy Shannon

When Miami hired Shannon I was really confused by the hire why they would go with a unknown, but everyone was turning them down so they went to Shannon. When I was watching the Oklahoma-Miami game it seemed odd seeing Shannon. He just doesn't seem like a guy who is going to bring back Miami to prominence. He has done a good job cleaning up the crap that was happening at Miami but I just don't understand the hire to this day. The whole coaching staff was new to College Football. This is "The U" were talking about and it looks like amateur hour over on their sidelines. Shannon at least made a move in the right direction going with Kyle Wright at Quarterback. Which is the no-brainer choice over Kirby Freeman who in my opinion is terrible. This week Wright and company have a nice little reunion against Florida International. Let's see if a brawl breaks loose again. That might be the only reason to wanna watch that one.

Like they say on ABC, "Tuesday Sports Report" lives here!
